Rant On: Twitter
“It has been more than a month since I scrolled my twitter
timeline (41 days to be exact). I did that because at first I think that
Twitter distracts me so much from my studies (there are other reasons too). But
it turns out I still procrastinate even without Twitter smh.
Throughout this period, I became more and more isolated from people, which I’m unsure if it is a good or a bad thing. Often times where I like to be alone, but at the same time I don’t want to be lonely. You want people to be around you but you don’t want them to disturb you.”

That was the line I write before 2017. Now that we are in
2017, I started browsing twitter again and I found out I have some love-hate
relationship with it. The ‘love’ part is I can get engaged with my friends, know
what they are doing, as well as getting breaking news. That news part eventually
become the ‘hate’ part. Earlier, Faiz Subri has awarded FIFA Puskas Award and
netizens bashing him for the poor English speech. Much of the negativity of
these people leaked into the timeline as a result of my followings retweeted
such stuff, making my timeline very ‘dirty’. I do want to keep track of my
friends, but I do not want negative vibes from becoming my feed every day.
So, what is the solution? For now, the only one is to turn
of retweets from my followings. But doing that will refrain me from getting
breaking news. Also, I’m not doing that
for hundreds of my followings.
Maybe I should not waste my time and do something more
beneficial.
